THERE were only two Premier Division games yesterday (Saturday) because of the FA Cup and 1-0 home wins for Lewes and Hornchurch lifted both clubs into the play-off places.
A late penalty save by Liam Mitchell denied Richard Jolly an equaliser for Wealdstone at Lewes, who had taken the lead with a penalty of their own in the 17th-minute, won and converted by Nic Ciardini. Stones had Peter Dean sent off in the 82nd minute but were still given the chance to take a point when Steve Robinson fouled Alan Massey.
Lewes moved up to third place, and Hornchurch climbed to fifth. Defender Rickie Hayles stabbed home from close range in the 51st minute (pictured above by Garry Bowden) to give them the points against Wingate and, in the end, they deserved it, gaining the upper hand after an even first half.
