TWO Division One South clubs with byes in the FA Trophy played their first round tie in the Alan Boon Cup, as the League Cup is now known, and it was Dulwich who maintained their unbeaten record against Ryman opposition, though they needed to win a penalty shoot-out 4-2 to see off visitors Godalming.
Junior Kadi gave Dulwich a half-time lead but it looked as if G’s might have snatched it when Gavin Smith’s second goal put them ahead with eight minutes left.
Peter Adeniyi swiftly made it 2-2, however, and the match became the first in the competition to go straight to penalties after 90 minutes, a new rule introduced this season. Dulwich converted their first four kicks while Darren Wheeler and George Short missed out for the visitors.
